Someone in chat is being disrespectful, rude, or annoying, what should I do?

The first thing, and best thing you can do is left click on that user's name in the chat list and click "ignore"! This will most likely solve your problem.

Unless a user has specifically violated the TOS by doing something like posting inappropriate images such as beastiality or child pornography, or is showing adult content in non adult rooms please don't request to ban that member. OohYa Chat is an open forum of free speech and disagreeing with a member about something does not constitute a ban situation. If you simply don't like what another member is saying put him on ignore, problem will most likely be solved.  Also, please do not send ban requests just because someone doesn't want to show you their cam. 

However, if a member is directly threatening the safety of another member, that does constitute a ban and it is encouraged to report these members by clicking the moderation tab in the members profile.

A good rule to follow is this:

If the reason you report another member resembles a child running to the babysitter to taddle about a petty "he said she said" thing, it most likely will not result in any action. Again remember, an easy solution to most of these types of problems can be resolved with a simple click of the ignore button.  OohYa administrators are not babysitters so please don't try to use us as such. The response from an administrator in these situations will most generally be "put them on ignore".

If even after a member has been placed on ignore and still somehow continues to harass you by logging in with different usernames to get around the ignore feature, it is then encouraged to report that member.

Other than the few OohYa administrators, OohYa Chat does not, and most likely never will, have regular member moderators. In theory this seems like a good idea, however more times than not giving regular members moderator power ends up in resentment and jealousy against those with mod power by those without. Often times this also leads to many unreasonable room bans for petty reasons. An exception to this rule however is private rooms as the owner of that room will have limited moderator power over that one room. We have done away with Private rooms and instead have modded and unmodded versions of rooms to give you a choice of which type of room you want to be in.
